International Tigers Day

On Friday, 29th July 2011, coinciding with the International Tigers day in Bhutan, an art competition on the Theme “Tiger conservation” was organized by the Royal Society for the Protection of Nature (RSPN) in Thimphu.  Nine different schools from across Thimphu participated to celebrate the occasion in the Children’s park near the Changlimethang ground in Thimphu.  The Honorable Minister, Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Pema Jamtsho was the guest of honor, along with many other senior officials and dignitaries. An open art competition with the theme tiger conservation was held at CTAS. Three students from CTAS were awarded with 1st, 2nd and 3rd price. Sangay Dorji, 5th year painting student was 1st, Dechen Wangdi, 3rd year painting student was in 2nd place and Pema Wangdi, 3rd year painting student came in 3rd. The prizes for the winners were awarded by the Honorable Minister and he congratulated the school for its successful demonstration of the importance in Tiger conservation in Bhutan. 

On that same day the publication of the book “The Critically Endangered White Bellied Heron” was celebrated.
